What will be your role?
The mission is to support the insemination of Data Architecture (particularly Data Modeling) activities during the stage of conceptualisation of IT solutions. Then, later, lead the way and actively participate to the correlated activities during the design and implementation stages.
First step will be to review and formalize the definition of the expected artefacts in terms of Data Architecture for the conceptual/semantic model, especially the form/style to enforce standards and best practices around Data Modeling efforts.
This step must be done taking into account the current maturity level of the enterprise and the expected outcomes of the different parties.
In parallel, you’ll start by working on the conceptual models: coaching and support of Business Architects/Analysts writing these models, advises and validate the form/style of these models, challenge their content and conduct data model reviews.
These tasks will require collaboration during workshops with different partners (Business Architect/Analysts, Subject Matter Experts …) with different maturity levels and backgrounds. Depending on this maturity, you’ll be more or less hands-on and your level of contribution will be adapted to the situation, keeping in mind that Elia’s goal is to increase the level of maturity and autonomy of these different profiles.
These activities will be executed in the context of diverse drivers (data warehouse project, data quality root causes analysis/solutions …) on different business domains (assets management, ancillary services, portfolio & project management …).
Once the conceptual models are on-track, you’ll set the focus on the data flows between applications, by describing light and explicit data interfaces. You’ll also integrate this result into some logical models.
Likely, you’ll provide advises to Master Data Management issues or questions. Usually, you’ll stay at a higher level and explain key concepts of this area (evangelization) or resolve punctual challenges or arbitrages.
